Frequency converters perform increasingly complex tasks in automation. Despite this growing range of functions, however, there is also increasing demand for short installation and commissioning times together with minimum training requirements. Yaskawa now presents a new generation of frequency converters that perfectly combines functionality, flexibility and simplicity. The first model of the series is the GA700.With its up-to-date developments in the field of drive technology, Yaskawa supplies machine and plant manufacturers as well as industrial users with high-capacity components that consistently simplify and accelerate planning, commissioning and operation by means of intelligent functions. In terms of the GA700 series devices, this means that they can be commissioned in a very short time without expert knowledge and are easy to operate without much previous experience.This is due to such features as a new control panel with a greatly simplified user interface and functions for interactive, dialogue-guided start-up as well as new intuitive PC tools, smartphone apps and cloud services for parameter management and back-up. In terms of hardware, power terminals that meet the European standard simplify installation. The installation space required by the new devices is as much as 40% less than for comparable predecessor models. This makes the GA700 series among the most compact converters on the market. What is more, they can be lined up without gaps in between, thus providing an optimum platform for compact machines and systems.Whether an asynchronous, permanent magnet or synchronous reluctance motor, the GA700 controls each of these machines with just one control type and without requiring motor auto-tuning. This not only makes the choice of converter very simple, it also reduces commissioning time to a minimum. All converters offer protection class IP20 as standard and are fitted with integrated EMC filters.
