Yaskawa has extended its current Sigma-7 servo system to include a new Sigma-7C dual axis model with integral controller. Furthermore, the performance classes 6 - 7.5 kW and 11 - 15 kW are now also available for the 400-V version.
Due to the integral controller in the Sigma-7C no separate controller is required, with the result that the component is more compact and space is saved in the cabinet or system. In addition, no bus cable is required between the controller and servo amplifier. Vis-à-vis previous solutions, 34 millimetres of space can be saved in the cabinet and the wiring effort is reduced accordingly. Besides the existing two axes, up to four further external axes can be controlled or even synchronized with the integral controller via MECHATROLINK-III.
What is more, the new development is facilitated by a modular design, eliminating the need for separate software programming. The integral controller also offers substantial advantages in terms of reaction speed: a bandwidth of 3.1 kHz in the drive can be realized, permitting higher machine throughput. And finally, the controller works without a battery or additional voltage supply, thus simplifying maintenance.
With intelligent functions the Sigma-7 series of servo drives creates the prerequisite for consistently simple and fast commissioning, and for maximum machine output with a high degree of precision.
The Sigma-7 motors also offer decisive benefits vis-à-vis comparable previous models. They are characterized, in particular, by a high degree of efficiency: while offering the same performance level, Sigma-7 servo motors are up to 20% shorter and generate significantly less heat.
