And the winner is… Austria!
The new Format-4 creator 950 CNC machining center from the FELDER Group, based in the Austrian Tyrol, was honored with the IWF Challengers Distinguished Achievement Award for the year’s most innovative product at IWF 2018 in Atlanta.

The International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in Atlanta is the American equivalent of LIGNA in Hannover, and the two trade shows are held every two years in rotation. As 2018 was an even year, it was the Americans' turn to showcase the latest innovations in wood processing. But when it came to presenting the IWF Challengers Distinguished Achievement Award, Europe wasn't left out of the count. A panel of ten leading technology experts inspected and evaluated 72 innovations submitted for the fair. Finally, they selected the new Format-4 creator 950 CNC machining center from the Austrian FELDER Group as the year’s most innovative product.
"In developing the Format-4 creator 950, our focus was on taking a different approach to traditional CNC machining. Machining the workpiece from above, four-sided formatting as standard, dowel insertion in the X direction, ultra-easy loading, a footprint of just five square meters and customizable configuration options ensure the machine is both innovative and attractive. By winning the Challenger Award 2018, the creator 950 has met all expectations.
