Originally located more in the hobby segment, battery tools - thanks to progress - are increasingly ensuring independence from the power socket in the professional sector as well. And although only 18 volts are available instead of 220 volts, Festool's drill screwdrivers, impact drill screwdrivers, hammer drills, jigsaws, cordless hand-held circular saws, cordless plunge saws and work lights, for example, are absolutely powerful.

When developing their innovative 18-volt cordless tools, the Swabians always have a very traditional image in mind: their own mains power tools. Whether it's power and efficiency, achieving exact and precise results, compatibility and flexibility, or taking advantage of the Festool system - with Festool 18-volt tools, users shouldn't have to do without anything on the construction site. Except for the cable.

Intelligent and brushless: The Festool 18V battery system

The combination of lithium-ion batteries without memory effect and the brushless EC-TEC motor combines all the advantages that can be expected from a cordless tool. Power electronics that think for themselves optimize power development while providing finely dosed energy for more efficient use of each battery charge for the tool. The intelligent motor control automatically regulates the torque in the event of an overload, thereby guaranteeing a longer service life.

And the elimination of the brush apparatus enables a significantly more compact and weight-reduced design for noticeably less fatiguing work with the tool. In addition, there are high-performance battery packs that are not only defined by ampere hours, but also by high-current-resistant cells with enormous power reserves, which thus convince with more charging cycles.

Innovative new launches at LIGNA

At LIGNA 2023, Festool will be presenting several exclusive new additions to its steadily growing cordless portfolio. In addition to the CSC SYS 50 EBI table saw, which has already been presented in detail here, the focus is particularly on another brand-new newcomer: According to its developers, the new RSC 18 cordless reciprocating saw is as strong as an ox, fast, precise and extremely robust to boot.

With the aforementioned brushless EC-TEC motor, the switchable pendulum stroke and thanks to low vibration, it should be easy to guide and be a great help for all conversion or deconstruction work. The strength of the pendulum stroke can be continuously adjusted via an easily accessible switch. With the pendulum stroke activated, better work progress is achieved through higher cutting speeds for saw cuts in soft and medium-hard materials. Without activated pendulum stroke, on the other hand, thin or hard materials can be processed, with less tearing of the material. Also adjustable in two stages: the stroke rate for material-specific work.
