LIGNA supports the "Wood saves the Climate" Initiative.
Protecting the climate and preserving our habitat is arguably one of the most important tasks of our time. It is therefore fitting that sustainability and circularity have been integral themes in the presentations of our exhibiting companies at LIGNA for several years now.

At LIGNA, we demonstrate how climate protection can be achieved using wood as the predominant material, both technically and industrially, as well as economically. This means that the entire woodworking and wood processing industry value chain has a special responsibility and an important role to play in climate protection: after all, just one cubic metre of wood stores one tonne of CO₂.
The Mission of “Wood saves the Climate”
The "Wood saves the climate" initiative, under the umbrella of the German Timber Industry Council, aims to educate people about the importance of wood for a sustainable, climate-friendly future. In doing so, it promotes not only sustainable forestry, but also the careful, holistic processing and use of the raw material in the spirit of circularity.
As a meeting place for the global woodworking and wood processing industry, and a platform for companies and interested parties along the entire value chain, we at LIGNA would like to support the initiative, as many of our exhibitors already do. After all, wood can save the climate — provided it is processed efficiently and sustainably.
LIGNA showcases sustainable Woodworking and Wood Processing
At LIGNA, visitors can find out exactly how sustainable woodworking and processing works. As the world's leading trade fair for woodworking machinery, equipment and tools, as well as wood and wood-based material processing, LIGNA demonstrates how modern technologies enable the efficient use of this sustainable raw material.
Our exhibitors present solutions for efficient, material- and energy-optimised processing, durable products and closed material cycles. This brings the climate protection concept of 'Wood saves the climate' to life – from sustainable forestry and industrial processing to the circular use of wood products. Visitors and exhibitors at LIGNA are therefore active contributors to a climate-friendly future with wood, not just part of an industry.
We look forward to welcoming you to Hannover as an exhibitor or visitor from 10 to 14 May 2027, to experience the vibrant showcase of sustainable innovations for yourself!
