New Raw Material Base Wood - Transformation of Forestry and Wood Cluster in NRW
Under this guiding theme, the Center for Forestry and the Wood Industry of Wald und Holz NRW and the partners of the NRW joint stand will present current research results on the use of new hardwoods and softwoods, innovative timber construction products and timber construction systems as well as solutions for the circular use of wood as a raw material in the context of a sustainable and forest-based bioeconomy.
New Timber Construction Systems
Find out all about new timber construction systems and wood applications. For example, the use of a supporting structure made of birch for mobile living concepts, the use of new supporting structures made of hardwood and hybrid systems for multi-storey construction with wood or the use of wood in the field of alternative tool technologies will be presented. These approaches are presented in the context of corresponding mock-ups and machine concepts.
Wood Uses
Learn about material-saving and resource-efficient timber construction products. The practical demo “From tree to wood product” will be held under the EXPO roof in front of the NRW pavilion and will demonstrate the wood technology properties and potential uses of “new deciduous and coniferous trees in a changing climate” such as birch, red oak, sweet chestnut and several types of fir.
NRW Stage
The NRW Stage in Pavilion 35 serves as an ideal platform for the exchange and discussion of current topics by the players in the forestry-wood value chain.
The program will be added shortly.
Live Demonstration
Wood as a new Raw Material - From Tree to Wood Product
NRW – Making more out of Wood | Joint Stand
EXPO Roof, Pavilion P35
As forests adapt to climate change, a wide variety of deciduous and coniferous trees will be used, which will significantly change the current supply of raw materials for the wood processing industry.
As part of the LIVE DEMO under the EXPO roof in front of Pavilion P35, the cutting of potentially promising deciduous and coniferous trees for material use, such as birch, sycamore maple and red oak as well as various fir species, will be demonstrated with a mobile sawmill and the wood technology properties and possible uses explained. Innovative application examples for the cut wood species can be viewed after the DEMO at the NRW joint stand in pavilion P35.
The live demonstrations will take place daily at 10.30 - 11.30 and 13.30 - 14.30 under the EXPO roof in front of Pavilion P35.
