UTIS Machines à Bois
The TORNOS, ILLKIRCH-STRASBOURG PLANTS, foundry and precision mechanics were created in 1920 by Mr W. MEGEL. Until 1963, they produced cast iron parts for industry and sanitation. With experience in modeling and foundry, the plant developed from 1923 a full range of conventional machines for woodworking such as band saws, circular saws, planers, jointers and routers.
After the cessation of the foundry activities, the manufacturing is transferred to the Fegersheim site in 1967, where the company "FEGERSHEIM MECHANICAL WORKSHOPS" continues the manufacture and sale of "UTIS" woodworking machines. The UTIS trademark is subject to a trademark registration that is renewable every ten years.
- Founding year: 1964
