Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)
Duration: 3 semesters (full-time) / 6 semesters (part-time) – teaching language: German – Credit Points (CP): 90
The Master's degree programme builds on the specialist and methodological knowledge of the Bachelor's degree programme in Civil Engineering. In the first two semesters, the focus is on timber construction, sustainability and structural engineering topics in the following lectures mostly in seminar groups:
• Timber engineering and composite construction
• Repair of timber structures
• Ecological concepts and sustainable construction
• Surface structures and FEM
• Design under fire load
• and fire protection concepts
• Energy efficiency in buildings
• Life cycle assessment
• Sound insulation in timber construction
• Hygrothermal component simulation
The programme concludes with a project in timber construction and the Master's thesis.
Graduates of the Master's degree programme are familiar with the holistic planning and construction of timber structures. The specialised knowledge in structural engineering in the fields of fire protection, sound insulation, thermal insulation, sustainability and statics - also in building classes 4 and 5 - opens up various fields of activity.
