A new addition is an integral version. This is particularly suitable for processing wood with difficult grain patterns. According to Leitz, the pre-splitting in the wood is reduced by an upstream fluted cutting edge, which creates the basis for a high-quality machined surface.

Planing and Profiling at the same Time

In addition, the CentroPlan/Profix planing cutterhead, which can be used to plane and profile at the same time, has been added to the product range. The use of profile, groove or edge knives also allows the flexible production of special profiles.

Paintable Surfaces

With the CentroPlan planing cutterhead, the cutting edges are positioned directly in the supporting body, which means that the concentricity of the system is particularly high and enables optimally machined surfaces in planing processes, for example in solid wood furniture production, window construction or in the manufacture of strips. The sturdy carbide cutting edges with micro-finish grinding not only make the tool durable, but also ensure that surfaces can be painted.

Reduced set-up Times

With the help of a clamping mechanism without clamping screws and additional setting gauges, used blades can be replaced quickly. This reduces machine set-up times and enables more efficient work. The constant-diameter knife clamping eliminates the need to adjust the tool on the machine. According to Leitz, this not only saves time, but also reduces potential sources of error during machining.

Versatile and sustainable

The CentroPlan is also sustainable and conserves raw materials. This is because the cutter head is fitted with disposable reversible knives, some of which are made from recycled carbide knives. The CentroPlan is available in standard cutting widths of 130 millimetres, 166 millimetres and 236 millimetres and is suitable for four-sided planing and profiling machines. Special dimensions are possible. It can process both softwood and hardwood as well as thermoplastics.
