A group of 19 mechanical and plant engineering companies led by Siemens AG gathered in Berlin in late January 2018 to form the "MindSphere World" users' association for the MindSphere cloud-based, open IoT operating system. Their mission is two-fold - to enhance the system and to help members develop and optimize their own IoT solutions based on MindSphere. This might include suggesting requirements for the IoT operating system or proposing rules to help standardize data usage.
The only woodworking machinery company among the association's founding members is Michael Weinig AG. Having said that, it is in very good company alongside co-members Festo, J. Schmalz GmbH, Kampf Schneid- und Wickeltechnik, robot manufacturer Kuka and other suppliers of components for the machinery and systems used in the wood, wooden materials and surface sector.
