Very gently along the Cutting Curve
Primultini is coming to LIGNA 2025 from Italy to present its 18-degree inclined band saw, which aims to score points with gentle handling, optimum alignment and automation-capable technology.

Based on many years of experience in primary wood processing, Primultini from Marano Vicentino in northern Italy is presenting a complete cutting system at LIGNA 2025, with an 18-degree inclined band saw at its center. The system was developed to improve the handling of sawn timber, especially when working with hard or dry logs. According to the Italians, the system ensures a smooth and controlled cutting flow, supported by variable-axis log carriages and inclined cantilevers for complete alignment from start to finish.
Sudden Falls or Impacts are avoided
According to Primulitini, the way the wood moves through the machine is crucial for sawmills that want to combine precision with care. The 18 degree tilt is not designed to reduce wear on the saw blade, but to guide each board gently along the cutting arc, avoiding sudden drops or impacts that could affect the material - especially on delicate sections.
Double Frame Structure ensures fast and precise Alignment of the Logs
This basic principle is reflected in the integration between the SHG/SIH/SLH series bandsaws and the CRL-I log carriage. The CRL-I, developed in collaboration with Bongioanni, has a double frame structure, with the upper frame, which holds the clamps, rotating thanks to the wheel system. This allows quick and precise alignment to the natural taper of the trunk, as the trunk remains fixed on the upper frame, which in turn rotates via a variable axle system. This reduces the internal tension on the log, maintains mechanical stability and speeds up positioning. In addition, the inclined arrangement allows the log to rest directly on the carriage without having to be repositioned or turned over, which simplifies loading operations.
The inclined WSF-I gallop continues the logic of gentle flow. It processes the side surfaces of the log parallel to the cutting direction, ensures clean edges and contributes to a fully synchronized cutting line.
Advanced 3D Scanner Technology supports the Analysis of the Logs
To meet modern production requirements, the entire system is fully compatible with automatic log optimization using 3D scanner technology. The scanners analyse the shape and internal characteristics of each log and immediately generate optimized cutting instructions. This results in better material yield, less waste and optimized decision-making at sawmill level.
Knowing where to start cutting
Primultini is bringing part of the configuration to LIGNA 2025, giving visitors from around the world the opportunity to see up close how a sophisticated angle can create a better production flow. Because in today's sawmills, efficiency is not just about speed, but also about precision, continuity and knowing where to start cutting.
