OPTICAL SCANNER FOR QUALITY AND DEFECT DETECTION
– CONTINUOUS OPERATION AT VERY HIGH SPEED
Technological. Intelligent. Productive.
The CROSS-SCAN 4.1 is the ultimate solution for exponentially increasing production throughput, minimizing labor costs, and accurately detecting wood characteristics and defects.
This automatic optical scanner leverages the full potential of the Cursal TRV 2700EB 500 high-speed optimizing cross-cut saw. Cursal’s saws are fully equipped to integrate the scanner seamlessly with additional in-line components—completing the optimization process within a continuous production flow.
INTELLIGENT DEFECT DETECTION ON ALL FOUR FACES
The scanner evaluates each board, detecting defects on all four surfaces and classifying them based on user-defined parameters. After scanning, it calculates the best possible cutting solution using the preset cut list and instantly transmits the data to the CNC controller of the cross-cut saw for execution.
IN-FEED & OUT-FEED HANDLING SYSTEM
Board handling is carried out by a low-wear, CNC-controlled conveyor system, including:
Pneumatic pressure rollers
Guide alignment wheels
Idle-head pressure units
Sequential feed control with verification sensors
DETECTABLE DEFECT TYPES
Knots
Cracks
Pitch pockets
Discolorations
Heartwood
Bark
Wane
Dimensional defects
Wormholes
FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE DETECTION PARAMETERS
Defect recognition settings can be adjusted, improved, or fine-tuned at any time through the user-friendly software interface.
Users can prioritize cutting logic based on:
Length recovery
Finger-joint optimization
Quantity
Value
Quality
It is also possible to apply different defect detection rules to each of the board’s four faces, including variable criteria across the width of each side for ultimate sorting precision.
