Climate change poses a major threat to our society. In particular, the construction activities caused by the building of urgently needed housing have a negative impact on the climate. This is why the Bavarian state government has launched the timber construction campaign to develop sustainable solutions to the housing shortage. However, timber construction is very complex to implement due to its one-size-fits-all properties. In order to make this complexity manageable, the expert knowledge of specialists is indispensable. However, due to the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, this knowledge is only available to a limited extent. The aim of the “RoWaPla” cooperation project is therefore to use the key technology of artificial intelligence to develop a standing production process for wooden walls using an AI-based robot application in order to relieve the burden on skilled workers, reduce process times and save costs.
