2. What have you been most pleased about at a LIGNA?

LIGNA offers numerous highlights, but what we appreciate most is the international atmosphere and the opportunity for direct interaction with customers and partners from around the globe. It is truly inspiring to witness people united by a shared passion for woodworking come together in one place. Another standout aspect is the local teamwork. Experiencing the unique LIGNA atmosphere together with our colleagues and sharing the excitement for our products strengthens our team spirit and provides fresh momentum for future projects.

3. What is the funniest/best/surprising thing you have experienced at LIGNA?

One of our favorite stories, often retold within the company, is from a past LIGNA event: At our booth, we were in the middle of discussing a potential order with a well-known customer – focusing on numbers and opportunities. However, the deal did not progress until later that day when we unexpectedly ran into each other outside the venue in Hanover. After several hours of informal socializing, the conversation took a serious turn. By 4 a.m., we were discussing a contract for three machines.

Edi Iseli, our managing director at the time, spontaneously wrote the total amount on a beer mat. Both parties signed the makeshift contract right then and there. Remarkably, the agreement was executed exactly as it had been written on that beer mat – a lasting testament to trust and the power of a handshake that still resonates with us today.

4. What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome at LIGNA?

Preparing for LIGNA is always a challenge, especially when new developments need to be finalized just before the event begins. There have been countless last-minute efforts to ensure everything is ready on time.

One of the most memorable challenges was in 2015, when we unveiled our new automation solution for circular saws. We knew this product was a significant milestone, and the anticipation was immense. Overcoming the technical and logistical hurdles in time for the launch was both stressful and exhilarating. Experiences like these motivate us to keep innovating and embracing new challenges.

5. When is a LIGNA a successful LIGNA for you?

For us, LIGNA is successful when several factors come together. Of course, the number of visitors and industry professionals is an important metric. However, the true measure of success lies in the outcomes: qualified inquiries, new contacts, and even concrete orders validate our efforts and show that we have made an impact in the industry. Equally important are the interpersonal aspects. LIGNA is a success when we engage in meaningful conversations, strengthen existing partnerships, and develop new ideas. This combination of business achievements and personal connections is what makes LIGNA a complete success for us every time.
