Precision knife grinder
Precisely sharpened knives are based on the philosophy of perfection deeply rooted in Japan and also correspond to the cultural history.
This results in very fine wood surfaces that can never be achieved by sanding. Many other areas of surface treatment also benefit from knives sharpened in this way.
The production of such fine wooden surfaces led to the development of high-quality knives in Japan and, from around 1970, to the development of the SuperSurfacer by MARUNAKA.
In order to be able to grind these high-quality knives perfectly and precisely, MARUNAKA developed knife grinding machines with a rough grinding unit and a separate lapping unit.
The combination of rough grinding and subsequent lapping (without re-clamping) not only significantly increases the life time of the knives, but also guarantees the highest surface quality of the sliced material, whether wood, plastic or other materials.
Consequently, this outstanding grinding technology from MARUNAKA has been used by our customers worldwide for sharpening knives since around 1975.
MARUNAKA also designs and builds customized knife sharpening machines required for sharpening specialty knives that need to be used in various industries.
