OSB 2-stage stranding technology allows exploiting NEW low-cost wood assortments for the strand production for OSB-, SSB-, fine surface OSB and other panel applications.
In the 1st stage, the MAIER Drum Chipper, type HRL-OSB, processes the available wood assortments without previous debarking into OSB maxi-chips with a length of approx. 80 to 140 mm. In the 2nd stage these OSB maxi-chips are cut to strands by a MAIER Strand Flaker, type MSF, designed quite similar to a knife ring flaker.
The MAIER 2-stage OSB-line can be used for material preparation as stand-alone solution for new OSB-plants, or can be integrated as additional line into existing conventional OSB-strand production for capacity increase.
The boards made from strands, produced with 2-stage technology, fulfil the quality standards of up to OSB-4 and show optical and mechanical properties comparable to conventional produced OSB.
Benefits:
- Exploiting of NEW low-cost wood assortments
- Capacity extension of existing plants
- New OSB plants with capacities starting from 50 m³ per day
- Modular capacity increase possible
- Board quality up to OSB-4
